KOCHI: The Kerala Government has decided to go ahead with disciplinary action against suspended Director-General of Police Jacob Thomas.

The move comes after his explanation for criticising the Government for its handling of Ockhi crisis was rejected.

The officer has been under suspension for openly criticising the Government for its handling of fishermen-related issues post-Ockhi last year.

In a chargesheet served on January 18, the Chief Secretary made it clear that Jacob Thomas’ statement that the law and order in the State has failed miserably was critical and does not deserve mercy.

In his reply, the senior IPS officer said he had not spoken against the working of the State Government or about any failure of law and order in the State. He said he had only cited an international study which said that corruption would thrive if law and order collapsed.

However, the Government said his explanation was not satisfactory.
