KOCHI: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said that his party would not have any ties with the Congress to oppose the BJP. “An alliance formed with the Congress to oppose the BJP will lack credibility,” the Chief Minister said.

Addressing a seminar ‘Prateekshakalum Sadhyathakalum’ (The expectations and possibilities of the Left), organised as part of the CPI state conference at Malapuram, the Chief Minister said such an alliance would not last and the people would reject it.

“Only the Left can usher in an alternative. But without any alliance or ties with the Congress, that does not uphold the tradition of fighting communalism and colonialism. This was reflected in Gujarat and other States,” he added.
