Kanam Rajendran elected as Secretary CPI, Malappuram

Kochi : Kanam Rajendran was today reelected unanimously secretary of CPI, Kerala unit, at Malappuram.

The newly elected council members elected Kanam. Party general Secretary Sudhakar Reddy proposed his name.There were speculations that C Dinakaran might stand against him.

The group led by K E Ismael was for replacement of Kanam. However, Dinakaran withdrew for maintaining unity in the party.

The new council has been expanded from 89 to 96.
