Kottayam: A leopard that killed a four-year-old Jharkhand boy Saidullah last week was trapped by the forest personnel near Valparai in the wee hours of today.

The leopard was trapped near the boy’s house. The boy was lifted from the kitchen where he was standing after being bathed by his mother Sabiya in the night, police said.

Hearing the wails of the child, Sabiya raised an alarm which saw people nearby people rush with torches to trace the leopard. They found the boy’s body with head separated about 350 m from his house.

The victim’s father Musharsf Ali was a worker in the tea estate and had come from Jharkhand about a year ago.Such incidents had occurred in the area in the past, residents said.
