Kochi: The crime branch will probe the charges of a mother who has accused police of `diluting murder of her daughter by her in-laws’ as suicide.

Thrissur Rural SP Yathish Chandra has ordered the probe into the allegations made against police.

Rini, 24, daughter of Ruby of Thiruvananthapuram, sustained burn injuries on March 5 and died on March 18.

According to the mother, police had taken Rini’s statement in the hospital where she said her in-laws poured kerosene and set her afire.

The police wrote that Rini had tried to commit suicide due to torture by her in-laws. Ruby claimed that she was present there and had recorded the declaration in her mobile phone.

She submitted complaints to the Chief Minister, the DGP, the State Human Rights Commission and the Women’s Commission.

Rini was the mother of a three and half-year-old boy and a three-month-old girl.
