Digital train tickets in unreserved category from Saturday in Kerala

Kochi: In a major relief to train commuters under Thiruvananthapuram division, issue of digital tickets in unreserved category will begin tomorrow. The facility will be available in 18 stations. Tickets to smaller station will not be available online and would take some time, railway sources said.

The traveller would have to book the tickets within 5 km of the station. The facility would be available at Ernakulam Town, Ernakulam Junction, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Nagercoil junction, Kanyakumari junction, Aluva, Kuzhithurai, Varkala Sivagiri, Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kochuveli, Guruvayur, Changanassery, Kollam junction, Tiruvalla, Thrissur, Kayamkulam junction and Chengannur.

The facility can be availed of by using mobile apps UTS on Android, windows and apple iOS mobile phones. The booked ticket is saved in digital format and could be displayed during ticket checking. The facility would help around one lakh commuters daily.
