Mother jumps into well, rescues child at Muvattupuzha

Kochi: In a daring effort, a mother jumped into a well and rescued her son at Muvattupuzha near here. Eight-year-old Allen was playing in the courtyard when he accidentally fell into the well last evening.

Shocked at this sight, his mother dived into the 40-foot deep well, reports said. As there was only about 4 ft of water, she managed to stand safe and lift her son above the water.

Meanwhile, some people saw the incident, raised alarm and alerted the neighbours. They collected a few adders and tied them together in series and dropped it into the well.

By this time, fire and rescue personnel reached the spot and helped the mother and child come out of the well. The mother and son were admitted at a private nursing home for treating bruises they suffered.
